These are some of the best music interviews I've heard: musicians interviewing musicians always kills, especially when they're friends. It's like being invited to a special party. It was funny when Louis just mentioned Bill Watrous offhandedly: as a trombonist, so many of us remember vividly the first time we put on a Watrous record (and back in the day, you really did have to go find the actual LP). He did things that nobody's done since. Like "West End Blues" for the trombone. Search for "Fourth Floor Walkup" and you'll see what I mean.

Whoa - this makes me want to move to LA. As a fellow Big 12 midwesterner, I get the hardcore classical vibe. I came in loving Clifford Brown and Charles Mingus (both have LA roots!) and found that I wouldn't get credit for jazz ensembles. So I took theory and improv classes, then got a physics degree. Lots of jazz engineers :-). Hmm... band name....

Was doing that while in college, but one of my classical teacher told me this was bad because it wasn't tonnally fonctionnal. Won't get influenced so easily next time, this is full of harmonic discoveries.

My only problem with getting other peoples patches is that you have no idea what the actual settings are when you go to mess with things. That being said these are great.

How do you think this compares to the Yamaha Reface CP? Obviously way more sounds available on the Korg, more flexibility, ability to save patches etc, but curious whether it might be worth it for me to make the switch. I really do love my Reface (which you recommended awhile back, incidentally) and it's small size definitely helps during my absurdly complex setup/breakdown for my looping rig

Great *actually useful* patches (nice Stevie basses!) You know a synth is legitimately good when you can just play some sawtooth through it, almost no rez, little filter motion, and it sounds so good it almost makes you wanna cry. I love soft synths as much as the next person… but nothing sounds like the PX.

Softtube's VSTs are the only virtual analog synths i have heard which accurately captures the way the internal gainstaging inside real analog synth saturates the sound. Your programming brings that raw saturated warmth into the forefront in an outstanding way. The type of very full and present sounds,you are showcasing here are why i would want "real analog" in the first place Thankyou for saving me from spending a reluctant 1500$ on a Take 5 !

I'm not sure if you're aware that the link you put there for your website isn't a link - I was able to copy it and go to your store, but marketing-wise ya know, making it as easy as possible for people to give you some $$ can't hurt haha. Love the sounds. I might pick these up soon but I have to look at money and at my patch library to see how much room I have. Of course I guess they live in the software/librarian anyway so you can just load them in and out whenever you feel? Sorry kind of new to this.

On the Buoyancy patch, how do you achieve the portamento glide on chords? I’ve heard a lot of similar sounds in Nick’s other work (Cory Henry’s Trade it All).
